Why Memorizing Stuff Can Be Good for You. All the world’s knowledge is at our fingertips, so a frequent claim is that memorization is unneeded. We know that is not true, and there are deep benefits to having knowledge memorized. I don’t have a particularly good memory, but it’s something I want to improve because “You can only think critically about a topic if you have information about it stored in long-term memory.”

1Confirmation Year-End LP Letter. Straight to the point with this one. The fund had an impressive year, including helping expose the FTX fraud. There are great projects being built.
We prefer to stick to our thesis of investing in authentic seed stage founders building crypto native products that we understand deeply as users.
Want to Know Where the Economy Is Going? Watch The Top 10%. I try to read Charles Hugh Smith a couple of times each week, and this one stood out as having particularly drastic consequences in the US: as the concentration of assets, income, and spending significantly shifts or drops, the economy could be disproportionately affected. By watching the top 10%, you can have a reasonably accurate picture of a host of economic sectors.
The top 10% account for roughly half of all consumption. The chickens of income-wealth inequality will inevitably come home to roost, generating far-reaching consequences in consumption, employment, tax revenues and virtually every other economic metric.
How To Speak Venture. From Dror Poleg here. Temasek Holdings echoed a similar sentiment to Anthony Scaramucci at a recent conference: thorough due diligence was performed before making an investment in FTX. It’s honest, but as Dror articulates, these investors will continue to take risky bets because they can’t afford to miss out on the next big ideas, even if that means potentially losing 0.09% of your portfolio, as Temasek might with FTX.
Lyric: What’s Next by Brasstracks
Usually an artist or lyric will catch my attention for the lyric of the week, but this cover from Brasstracks was on repeat this week for no reason other than the sound of the trumpets. Trumpets have that piercing sound of celebration, a balance of power and precision that is contagious.
Little did I know the duo of Ivan Jackson and Conor Rayne won Grammy’s for Chance the Rapper’s No Problem. Here are lyrics from the original Drake song.
We'll see what's 'bout to happen next
Okay? Okay? Okay?
We'll see what's 'bout to happen, ayy, ayy
We'll see what's 'bout to happen, ayy
Stay Curious,
