Circle Three 66 / Again
It was a good week. The ND 5k event was a huge success on Saturday. Planning an event like that — in a new location with new service providers — there are always those lingering questions “what if nobody comes?” or “can we pull this off?”
We did, all thanks to a team effort. Trust the process and the people.

Do MBAs Want To Be Billionaires? Here. It appears not.
In the coming years I see the MBA changing to have more focused tracks of study that will flatten this imbalance. However, it will always hold true that MBAs want to keep options broad early “to maximize skill acquisition in advisory roles in consulting or investment banking before selecting an industry specialization a few years down the line.”

Alzheimer’s disease and Exercise. Here is the paper from Nature. tl;dr: In what feels like groundbreaking news: exercise outperformed all tested drugs in reversing dysregulated gene expression. Alzheimer’s.
No, you’re not entitled to your opinion. Read here from a philosophy professor. If you want your views to be treated as “serious candidates for the truth” you have have to construct and defend an argument. By extension, you are entitled to what you can argue for. It’s a simple concept, but a good reminder of how to engage in healthy debate.
“So next time you hear someone declare they’re entitled to their opinion, ask them why they think that. Chances are, if nothing else, you’ll end up having a more enjoyable conversation that way.”

My 5-100-500 rule to close your seed round. Insightful piece from founder Elizabeth Yin here. 5 weeks, 100 meetings, for $500k. The first 20 pitches suck while honing the message to find what resonates. That’s when the fun work begins.
Stocks and Bonds. We are experiencing rare times.
Lyric: Again by Trampled by Turtles
Living like a window
Stuck wide open
Take it all in
But don’t let it burn you out
I know you have your doubts
But just forget them now
I love this metaphor for being overwhelmed. Close that open window every so often to focus on what’s inside.
Beautiful live version of the song here. The band just released a new album on Friday.
Stay Curious,
Dan
