Welcome back to Circle Three!
Hot, cold, and everything in between. This week was a rollercoaster for both the weather and routine. Hope you enjoyed the long holiday weekend!
"If you assume that there is no hope then you guarantee that there will be no hope. If you assume that there is an instinct for freedom, that there are opportunities to change things, then there is a possibility that you can contribute to making a better world " — Noam Chompsky
Create in your mind the space for possibility. That's the first step that Noam Chompsky talks about here. Our mental dialogue is a constant filter on how we see the world. Noam calls us to take control of that dialogue and create the possibility for hope.
Outdoorsy types suck with money. "While most of us aren’t Alexander Supertramp from Into the Wild, burning our savings before heading for the Alaskan bush, we tend to choose experiences over things, enjoy the challenges of minimalism and being surrounded by nature, and reject the idea that money can buy happiness."
Curious about a topic but don't really know where to start? I might suggest newsletters. More particularly, The Sample. Select your interests and you will receive one issue of a different newsletter each day, without subscribing. You'll have the option to subscribe for the long haul if you want.
Lockdown relationships looked a little different. They were missing an essential piece of relationships: the inclusion of others. Read about the public and private parts of relationships and how the lockdowns tipped the tension out of balance.
An amazing collection of e-waste images, titled Ctrl-X, that serve as a reminder of both how quickly technology is changing and how many devices are in our lives. It's important to see where they end up.
Continuous education has been invaluable. This TinyMBA book offers lessons that you'll keep coming back too. Luckily, it's small enough to fit in your pocket.
A Question For You
In place of Inner Circle this week, I wanted to ask a question and hope to hear from you.
We're coming up on one full year of Circle Three.
In reflection, what has been your favorite thought, article, or concept that's been discussed so far?
Looking forward to your replies.
